Biography

Firm principal Paul Kujawsky brings over forty years of appellate attorney experience. He launched his career as a staff attorney at the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, where he drafted numerous opinions across civil and criminal law. From 1989 to 1994, he worked at Wasserman, Comden and Casselman in Tarzana, California, where he handled discovery, conducted legal research, prepared motions, and wrote appellate briefs and writ petitions for complex insurance defense and government liability cases. In 1994, Mr. Kujawsky established his own appellate practice in Studio City, California, focusing exclusively on appellate civil cases. Throughout his career, he has leveraged his skills to assist many clients and attorneys through the appeals process.

A career highpoint for Mr. Kujawsky was writing several amicus ('friend of the court') briefs for members of Congress in the case of Zivotofsky v. Clinton. The case concerned whether an American citizen born in Jerusalem is entitled to have “Israel” listed as his birthplace on his passport, emphasizing that Congress shares foreign policy management with the President and that the President cannot nullify Congressional legislation with a “signing statement.” His brief played a role in persuading the U.S. Supreme Court to address these significant Constitutional questions.

Mr. Kujawsky earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from Yale University. Admitted to practice in California since 1983, he is known for his independent, creative thinking and exceptional writing skills.
